Medical malpractice claims are when treatment provided by a doctor falls below the accepted standard of practice in the medical community and causes an injury or death to the patient. These claims are preventable mistakes made by doctors. These mistakes can cause catastrophic injuries and a lifetime of future medical needs and cost.
The Congressional Budget Office found medical malpractice amounted to less than 2 percent of health care spending despite the propaganda claiming heightened healthcare cost from lawsuits. The Government Accountability Office found malpractice cases have not widely affected access to healthcare.
